Why high school theater?
"When I was in HS, I was so shy and unsure of myself. I didn't know who I was or who I wanted to be. All of that changed for me on the stage of my high school auditorium. The characters I played allowed me to 'try on' different perspectives, backgrounds, dreams, personalities, failures...I could become someone else for a season and that led me to discover who I was, what I was passionate about and who it was I wanted to become. In drama class, I learned how to collaborate for the benefit of everyone involved, and that has been the most valuable and necessary skill of all!! My high school theater program helped me find my self confidence, it fueled my dream to perform on the collegiate level and beyond, it taught me to work hard and how to lose graciously. It's really the reason I am where I am today." -Katie Foulke
